A New Look at Connecticut from Space—Connecticut's Changing Landscape Project

Connecticut's Changing Landscape is the first of many projects put out by the University of Connecticut's CT NEMO Program and the Center for Land use Education And Research (CLEAR).

This project is the result of two years of work to produce an improved and directly comparable land cover dataset for the entire state of Connecticut for the years 1985, 1990, 1995 and 2002. This work provides a full 17-year record of the changing Connecticut landscape, with a special emphasis on the growth of developed land throughout the state.

You can look at, download and print out maps of your own town or watershed at the new Connecticut's Changing Landscape website: http://clear.uconn.edu/projects/landscape/index.htm.

Read the article in the Hartford Courant about our Changing Landscape project (you may need to sign up for a free e-subscription to access the article.)

Texas NEMO Editorial on Smart Growth

John Jacob, of our TX NEMO affiliate, had an OpEd piece published in the Sunday Houston Chronicle. The editorial focused on the issue of Smart Growth and since it was published on the front page of the opinion section, it appears that this is a dominant issue in Houston these days. -Congrats John!
