Redox Potential

Over time, the average shallow and deep probe Eh measurements in the treatment garden measurements decreased. Average Eh in the control garden remained above 200 mv during the entire treatment period, whereas Eh in the treatment garden dropped beginning in May 2004. Denitrification reactions are expected to take place in soils between 500 and 200 mv (Bohn, et al., 2001). During the treatment period, conditions did exist that would favor denitrification in the treatment garden.
