Coastal Resource Inventory Tutorial

7. Migratory Fish Runs

Migratory fish runs are Focus on the Coast's priority coastal resource #2. Migratory fish are fish that spend some of their life cycle in fresh water, and some in the ocean. These are some of our most ecologically and economically valuable species, like herring, bluefish, striped bass, shad and eel. To keep 'em comin' back, you need to know where their preferred streams are. These maps have been recently created by the CT DEP's Marine Fisheries Unit, who know more about fish habitat than the fish themselves.
