Clean Waters: Starting in Your Home & Yard
The Clean Waters workshop focuses on protecting water resources through
changes in common activities in and around the home. Three major areas
are covered: septic system design and maintenance, hazardous household
waste management and "water-friendly" gardening and landscaping
practices. This workshop is popular with garden clubs, homeowner's
associations and other civic groups. Clean Waters is a joint production
of Cooperative Extension and the Connecticut Sea Grant College Program.
You will learn:
- How
water moves through the environment.
- How
everyday activities add to water pollution problems.
- Practical
ways to manage hazardous household chemicals, septic systems, yards
and gardens.
- How
to protect yourself, local waters and Long Island Sound from pollution.
- How
to landscape with native species to enhance the environment.
The workshop is free of charge and about 1 hour long. We recommend
scheduling 2 hours to allow for discussion and questions. Contact
John Rozum at john.rozum@uconn.edu or
