- This document provides exemplary language that can be used for you construction legal authority. This document can be used to implement a specific legal authority, or to make upgrades to any current land use regulations (such as planning and zoning) in place in order to adequately address construction site runoff. This legal authority must require:
- Consistency with the Guidelines for Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control and the CT Stormwater Quality Manual
- Additional measures to protect and improve water quality as necessary
- Inspection, surveillance, and monitoring procedures for compliance with ordinances, regulations, or programs, we well as inspection for privately-owned retention ponds, detention ponds, and other stormwater basins discharging to the MS4
- Compliance with long term maintenance plan and schedule for privately-owned retention ponds, detention ponds, and stormwater basins discharging to the MS4
- Interagency agreements to control the contribution of pollutants between shared MS4s

- Construction Stormwater General Permit Information
- For enforcement and site inspections, review our new page about the Construction Stormwater General Permit. This can assist you in making sure that any construction projects over one acre are meeting the requirements regarding their stormwater site plans. Any development sites disturbing more than one acre must also be notified of potential obligation to register under the Construction Stormwater General Permit.
